New Era Square to host our first Chinese New Year Celebration!

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we celebrated Chinese New Year 2025, the year of the snake, at New Era Square for the first time!

OUR HIGHLIGHTS

Acrobatic Lion Dance performance

The world champion Foshan Lion Dance troupe performed on the Square for the first time ever, travelling all the way from China.

Known for their breathtaking acrobatics on a 15-metre structure, this Southern Lion Dance performance combines traditional Chinese cultural elements with impressive physical feats. Originating from Foshan in Guangdong Province, China, this style of lion dance is renowned for it’s dynamic and powerful movements. The performers, often highly skilled martial artists, wear lion costumes and execute a series of coordinated acrobatics, including high jumps, balancing on poles and intricate footwork, all synchronised to the beat of drums, cymbals and gongs.

12 zodiac signs exhibition and find out your zodiac reading with our interactive QR code.

A stunning display of 12 Chinese zodiac signs, standing tall at 1.8 metres high and 1.2 metres wide. Each zodiac figure is an intricate work of art, vividly coloured and meticulously crafted. These statutes represent a zodiac sign, and attendants were able to scan QR codes to discover their personal zodiac and learn what the Year of the Snake holds for their future. It was a fun, interactive way to dive into the festival's cultural traditions.
